Hello Everyone, in our “Inspiring People” article series, this time we feature Natalia Diaz, a talented and warm-hearted woman who provides PR services in the healthcare industry. (the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.)
Let’s listen to the tips and experiences of Natalia Diaz, an expert in Health Tourism who is very keen on going to other countries for health. Who is Natalia Diaz???
ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: Can you tell us a little about yourself? Who is Natalia Diaz?
NATALIA DIAZ: I am a mother to a beautiful daughter and a wife to a wonderful husband. I am a creative, free-thinker, empath, writer, dreamer.
ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: Where are you from? What is your job?
NATALIA DIAZ: I am originally from Puerto Rico, where I was born. I currently work as a marketing and public relations consultant, helping brands and organizations that are looking to grow their business.
ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: Could you tell us about your PR work in the health sector?
NATALIA DIAZ: I have worked in healthcare marketing and public relations for 19 years with several organizations, most recently as the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. In my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many incredible physicians and nurses to promote new procedures and healthcare innovations that help improve the health and well-being of patients. I now consult with healthcare organizations on marketing and public relations strategies.
ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: What advice would you give to Drs who want to do Health Tourism? Do you have any special works?
NATALIA DIAZ: There’s a great opportunity for health tourism. My advice would be to focus on your target audience and develop a comprehensive plan to reach that audience. Social media is a marketing channel I would recommend to a physician or medical practice looking to market to an international audience. A physician practice can create posts and videos highlighting the benefits of their services, and show the before and after results of their patients, with the proper consent. Videos are another great tool for engagement. Patients need to trust their physician, especially if they are going to travel for a procedure, so I highly recommend video as a way to make an authentic connection with prospective patients and build trust.

ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: Where do you live?
NATALIA DIAZ: I live in Tampa, Florida. We are lucky to have some beautiful beaches in the area and some nice sunsets.
ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: Do you travel a lot? Where do you feel most comfortable?
NATALIA DIAZ: I love to travel, it’s one of my favorite things to do. I love visiting new countries and experiencing different cultures. I feel most comfortable on a hike in a beautiful forest, or a beach. I went to Mallorca a few years ago, and I instantly fell in love and was very comfortable during my time there.
ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: Would you go to another country for health? Under what conditions would you prefer it?
NATALIA DIAZ: I would go to another country for health. I know several people who have done it and had great success. I would consider traveling for any type of elective procedure that you can plan. If I could save money on the procedure and also have the opportunity to travel as part of the procedure, I would prefer to travel for healthcare.
ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: Can you tell us about your dreams and goals? Are they close to each other?
NATALIA DIAZ: My dreams include writing a screenplay, starting a nonprofit, and writing a book. I believe that all of my work is always connected, so yes, the inspiration and intention behind them are aligned.
ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: Do you have any hobbies? If so, what are they?
NATALIA DIAZ: I like to read and write, draw, go to the beach, bike ride, do hiking, do yoga, do gardening, do outdoor activities, and volunteer.
ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: You recently took part in an American and Italian festival film – ECHO. What was your mission? Have you taken part in other film projects?
NATALIA DIAZ: That was a great experience. My goal in participating was to get some insight into film production. I have been on several commercial shoots before, but I was interested in working on a more creative project. It was a lot of fun, and everyone that worked on the production was wonderful. It was great to see everyone working together in pursuit of a creative endeavor.
ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: Where and how do you imagine yourself in 5 years?
NATALIA DIAZ: In five years I believe I will have made some good progress on my screenplay, nonprofit, or book. So hopefully I will be busy promoting that work and also volunteering and giving time to social causes I believe in.
ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: In which areas do you PR? For example, what would you suggest for ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWSPAPER?
NATALIA DIAZ: I have done marketing and public relations with a focus on healthcare. My advice is something I would tell anyone looking for public relations advice, focus on your brand proposition and your audience. Identify who your target audience is, whether it’s your customers, your advertisers, or maybe there are others. Develop different communication strategies for each audience, and develop content that aligns with those strategies that your audience is interested in. Focusing on content that your audience finds engaging while maintaining your brand positioning, will help build loyalty with that audience.

ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: Do you have a funny or interesting memory that you can tell us about?
NATALIA DIAZ: I have a knack for losing my phone in random places and then finding it. Recently I was in Puerto Rico on a hike in the rainforest, and I went down a rock slide into a river and I lost my phone while going down the slide. The river was very active that day and the spot where I lost my phone was about 100 ft deep so I thought I was never getting my phone back. There was a guide there who jumped into the river to look for my phone, and to my surprise he found it and it was in perfect condition. Somehow, I always get lucky with my phone.

ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: In life, each of us has learned some of the secrets of life. What have you learned about life?
NATALIA DIAZ: Our time is limited, so in life, I believe it’s important to be grateful for what you have and cherish the people you love. It’s the relationships we build and experiences we create that make life meaningful. Spend time with people you love, doing the things you love.
ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWS: Let’s hope the whole world hears you! What would you like to say? Do you have a message?
NATALIA DIAZ: The world has been through a lot over the last few years. I hope that people continue to pursue things that make the world a better place and for peace around the world.
As ARTTMODERNMIAMI NEWSPAPER, thank you for this wonderful interview.
