I  Shut the Door

-

|

My knees were trembling
My body started to become an anchor
And I couldn’t stay on my feet anymore

There was no hand to hold

I turned around
Held onto the door handle
Put my back to the door

My heart became so heavy
And slowly, I collapsed

Tears were running down my face
I couldn’t stop them
Nothing was under my control anymore

Our love?
You?

Sometimes you shut the door
And you’re crying on the other side

And sometimes, you take your heart with you
and just walk away…

How about you?
What kind of love was this for you?

Were you happy to leave me?
Did your heart feel lighter
As you walked away from our love?

Or did your heart sink?
Are your cheeks wet?

Holding onto the handle,
Collapsed on the floor
Like me?

I want to open the door
To find out
To see with my own eyes

But I’m frozen

I feel empty inside
I can’t catch my breath
I have no strength anymore

That is the kind of love it is for me.
