Welcome to My New Age: Notes of a Journey

Tugba YAZICI

I wanted to write a different article this time of year, drawing from my travel notes and reflecting on my experiences. I stepped into a new age in the last week of April. This year feels particularly significant because I’m celebrating my 35th birthday again! And I am always 35 now. 😊 Women know that this age is like a milestone. From now on, we will always say, “I am 35”, right?
I update myself every birthday. It is like an internal software update… What I have learned from life, what I have felt, what tests I have passed… I take notes. This year, I wanted to share these notes with you. Maybe you will catch a trace of your journey. I wrote a similar article last year. Here are my travel notes with new updates:

Gulliver Travels

I went a little, a long way, and up and down hills and valleys. I was like Gulliver on the road; I came across giants and dwarfs. I was Thumbelina sometime, the main girl in fairy tales… When I was Thumbelina, I saw the arrogant moles and the sable furs. 😊 The times I was the main girl were very enjoyable. 😊 However, most importantly, no matter what, I always knew the power inside me. I took what I liked, I sent off what I did not like through the open door of my life.

A song from Ajda goes here: Come and see me!
A completely different person… 😊

Einstein said, “Everything is energy.” Energy turns into matter, and we give it meaning. Then everything ends with us. A person who can manage their emotions can climb their own Everest. I also learned that those who understand themselves could venture to any peak.
Throughout my life, I have been interested in the stories of successful people. I hope to find a common path or discover a different perspective. Following their journeys has always inspired me.
A good sign; I learned how valuable it is to be a reader.
I’m not sure if it’s because I’m a Taurus or because my ascendant is Gemini, but curiosity has always been a part of who I am.
I’ve learned how valuable it is to be curious, research, ask questions, and take action in life.
Years ago, when I read the advice from the renowned public relations expert, Betul Mardin, who said, “Walk every day, my child,” it took me a long time to apply it. However, I didn’t give up. Today, I encourage you to do the same: walk daily, engage in separate workouts, and focus on strengthening your muscles!
I learned what it means not to give up.

Life is a long marathon. In this marathon, sometimes there are runners next to you, sometimes just spectators. Some will catch up with you, some will fall behind. Trying to make those we have emotional ties with match our own pace can sometimes be tiring. Those who enter with a smile should leave with a smile.
I have learned to quit without forcing it.

I learned that seizing the moment is very important! What you do at that moment shapes your future. I realized that doing things that will leave a mark behind me every moment makes me very happy. As time passed, when they turned into rewards, I observed that people usually said, “You are lucky,” and did not notice the effort put in. Although this bothered me at first, I later learned not to care that much.
No matter how much you explain, you are only as much as the other person understands! That is why I learned not to tire myself too much by expressing myself to the other person. I learned to use that energy by producing more.
Sometimes you love someone very much, sometimes a behavior upsets you. Every person we meet holds a mirror up to us. To add the characteristics we like to ourselves and to stay away from the ones we do not like…
Before judging, I learned to look at myself from a distance. (After looking at myself from afar, if my thoughts about the other party still do not change, see the article above👆🏻 I preferred to say goodbye from the open door of my life, I think this protects people from chaos and possible health problems)

Dreaming… This is a deep subject. I think it is a bit like the story of Pinocchio. Pinocchio, a wooden puppet, makes various mistakes while trying to be human. One day, only golden leaves come out of the sack he carries with the hope of winning gold… Imagine that great disappointment?
Dreams are like that, too. Sometimes they are just leaves. Sometimes they do turn into gold.
I learned that I have experienced dozens of disappointments after a hope, but in the end, being able to realize even one of them is worth everything.
When I finally achieved my dream, I noticed that the people I had walked alongside on that journey were no longer with me. Some had fallen behind, while others had taken different paths.
Is this significant? Not really. I have experienced that it’s essential to manage your expectations based on your actions and aspirations rather than relying on others.
I learned that every beautiful dream has a price, and that the same people may not be with me when that dream comes true.

I also learned the uncontrollable aspects of life. No matter how much we try to give direction, external factors are always there.
Because of these external factors, I can say that having experienced turning points in my life at different times, all make me who I am! That is why I say everything that happens has a reason. I learned to look back with maturity and work with all my might to shape the future, to control my emotions, and to take the difficulties I experienced as a force behind me, and to move forward! This is very important, my friends!
I learned that being able to control your emotions is very, very important.
And of course;
I learned to do my best and leave the rest to God.
I learned how powerful a medicine gratitude is for the human soul.
I’ve learned that staying focused on the positive is a conscious choice, unlike the naive optimism of Pollyanna.
It’s essential to avoid negative mindsets that stem from a lack of understanding, research, or questioning the value of things.
I realized that the saying, “We reap what we sow,” is literally true. Staying positive is achievable, especially if you’re willing to change your environment when necessary.
Frequency… It applies to every area of life! Like that, old static on the radio, you will not insist on a frequency that does not fit.
If there is no harmony, change the frequency or turn off the radio… The decision is yours.
(Since the ascendant is Gemini, I have broken many radios, metaphorically of course…😊)

“You can trust me”

I have added something new to myself at every age. I have come to this day by doing. Moreover, I am glad I did whatever I have done… I believe wish and regret are not in my life story, because I have always learned to do my best.
I have learned to say, “Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn”.
The biggest investment a person makes is in themselves. I have learned this. Since my 20s, I have always invested in myself, and none of the things I have learned have been a waste of time; I have used and am using them all in different parts of my life.
In addition to listening to others, I have also learned how important it is to listen to your inner voice.
I believed in the saying, “The frog that climbs the highest is the deaf frog.” Because sometimes you have to ignore everyone. When I was very young, I would share my dreams with the people around me, and I would catch the disbelief on most of their faces. Those dreams and plans were not that big, though… I focused on my work like a deaf frog. When I look back on where I came from, some of those unbelieving characters died, and some went to different parts of the world.
I learned at a very early age not to listen to the words of people who had ideas that would not have much place in my life.
I have always known the magnificent power of being able to say, “Fuck it!” and my inner child has said this in many situations.
I have learned that being friends with my inner child protects me from all the difficulties of life.

I always looked younger than my age. It was annoying when I was young, but now I enjoy it. The secret?
Drawing boundaries, reducing anxiety, sports, healthy living, and being able to say “No”!
I learned that you need to protect your soul and your body. The most effective way to protect yourself from energy vampires: Saying “NO!”

“A person is the average of the five people they spend the most time with.”
The five people around you shape who you are. I always knew how important it was to choose those five people well, but I learned how important it is to share it. Although most people feel better in crowds, I learned that a productive person almost needs to step back when necessary.

This year (November 2024), I was honored to be recognized as one of the “Inspiring Women of the Year” in England. This event meant more to me than simply receiving an award. My experiences over the years, the way I have interpreted and shared them with the world, have contributed to my recognition as one of the “Inspiring Women of the Year” from America to England. This recognition holds significant meaning for me.
I embrace my past years, my experiences, and myself. I know that I will love you too… Because I live with gratitude. Maybe this is the real secret!
Welcome, my new age! Come and increase with health, joy, peace, and friendship.
