A Mother’s Morning Prayer

-

|

Your gaze was tiny,

your arms even smaller,

yet you held on tight.

I couldn’t let go—

“I don’t want to,” you whispered.

“I love you so much.”

But now, you must go.

The hour has slipped away.

Your bus will be here soon.

Tonight, we will hold each other again,

nestled under the blankets,

reading stories,

drifting into dreams—

until morning finds us once more.

In the hush of sleep,

we awaken to birdsong,

a melody woven into dawn.

A thousand miracles fill this world,

but I was given the two most precious.

And every day,

I give thanks to God.
