For the third of my travel articles, this time I will tell you about Istanbul. My city is Istanbul! Before settling in America, Istanbul, where I was born, grew up, fell in love, had a lot of fun, was very sad, traveled, grew up, lived! Istanbul is one of the most exotic cities in the world. I always proudly say to people I’ve just met: āI come from Istanbulā and after saying that, I watched with pleasure the expressions of admiration and respect that appeared on the faces of the people in front of me.
As a human being, I have a curious nature. I am curious about how a mechanism works, people’s character structures and cultures. I am inspired by good and successful people; I stay away from people who think they are bad. I have different opinions on this topic.
I might be a little crazy š Now you’re wondering why I wrote this, I know š
The places we were born, grew up, the time period, celestial positions, education, family, what child we were born as, our professions and many other things are reflected in our personality traits.
For example, for someone from a different culture I met abroad, besides TuÄba, I represent the city, Istanbul. Iām a contemporary, fast, modern woman who also carries the mystery of the traditional in her codes. I am aware of this. Because the questions that I have received for years are always in this way. That’s why Istanbul is very special to meā¦ and because it is special, every time I go to Istanbul, I get very excited and happy.
When I boarded by plane at Miami International Airport on the 5th of February, there was nothing. The day I went to Istanbul, on February 6, I learned that there was an earthquake in Turkey. At first, no one could understand the magnitude of the eventā¦ When I learned later, this was a terrible disaster that had hit 10 cities and neighboring country Syria as well! I’m talking about a situation whose effect will not be erased for many years, and the wounds need to be healed in a very long time. I wrote in detail in my previous article, as readers will remember. As I write my article, I will add information about charities at the end of the article.
I organized an exhibition, the proceeds of which were donated to earthquake victims.
Two months ago, GRUPDENT, a dental hospital headquartered in Istanbul Levent, requested an exhibition from me and I accepted and sent my pictures. However, this sad event in Turkey made me change the purpose of the exhibition. I decided to donate all the income to the exhibition for earthquake victims and education. For this, I donated to foundations and associations. On this occasion, I became aware of the existence of many beautiful foundations and associations. People don’t understand the necessity of such voluntary actions and the importance of supporting them (for God forbid) before it happens to them!
There is a quote which I love so much;
āThose who fall from the tree understand the state of those who fall from the tree.ā
GRUPDENT, the dental hospital where I organized the exhibition, is located in the heart of Istanbul; It is an institution that values art and has many patients from Europe and America. When they saw the paintings I participated in during Miami Art Week, they liked it very much and offered the exhibition because they thought the subject (mouth, facial expressions, parts of the face) was very close to their subject. The subject of my paintings was to emphasize that the facial expressions and expressions on the human face are sometimes much more important than the speech of the people. In my opinion, it is one of the causes of chaos in the world. Someone says something, acts differently, this was the main subject of my work! You can reach from daily life to politics for the subject I want to emphasize! That’s why I’ve been working on expressions and facial expressions for a while.
On the day of my exhibition, the diversity of the guests, their colors, and the crushing caused by the earthquake, to a certain extent, dissipated. The income of the pictures sold was donated to various associations and foundations, including HAYTAP. The exhibition continues and we will try to continue our support.
I will write about the beauties and mysterious treasures of my beautiful Istanbul in another article, I PROMISE!
The earthquake and feeling the pain of the people of my country is the reason why I cut this article short, because sometimes words are really insufficient.
I wish everyone health and happiness until the next post…
āHappiness was simple actually.
We were the ones who made it complicated.ā
